Events / Re: 2014 - Oklahoma Mustang Club Track Schedule

Had a good time at the track day on April 26th. Really fast laps and lots of time out there make for an awesome time. Justin, Paul, and myself were present, with a fastest time (and trophy) going to me at a 51 seconds.

Events / 2014 - Oklahoma Mustang Club Track Schedule
« on: February 24, 2014, 10:38:19 am »
This year we're adding a new clubs track days to our roster... the Oklahoma Mustang Club! We attended this event for the first time this year and had a really great time! Can't wait for the next one.

Location: OKC Sheriff's Track (4001 N Air Depot, Oklahoma City, OK 73145 United States)
Cost: $25
Type: High speed autocross, laps, multi-car, un-timed.

MonthDate/Time
February22nd - 8a
March29th - 8a-5p
April26th - 8a-5p
May31st - 8a-5p
June21st - 8a-5p
July5th - 8a-5p
August30th - 8a-5p

This club runs things (in my opinion) "fast and loose". Their track is open and quick (I hit 99 mph last time on the main straight, according to a motorcycle cop who posted up for a bit to watch cars as they fly by).

  • Passengers are allowed with a Helmet.
  • Brake condition is at a premium on this course, so make sure your pads are good and fluid is fresh!
  • They allow passing in 2 locations (front and back straights), ONLY when the person in front waves you by!
  • The blue flag means "let someone pass when safe".
  • Minimal workers in the far corners, no extra flags, and no walkie talkies. Keep an eye out for the Yellow flags at the start and for drivers in the grass!
  • At the moment, lunch is provided.
  • Track runs until they get tired.
  • No "off" penalties unless excessive.
  • As long as you stay on the track, sliding or burnouts are not against the rules.
  • At the end of the day they allow a few hand-timed runs for fun if time allows.

Events / 2014 - BMW Club Sheriff's Track Schedule
« on: February 21, 2014, 01:52:32 pm »
The BMW Club of Oklahoma provides a very technical Auto X track out at the OKC Sheriff's Track.

OCIDE members have had a mixed experience when it comes to attending these events! - The "general" consensus is that many people have felt "looked down on" for not driving a BMW (or lacking experience) and not felt very welcome... but if you're looking for more seat time, this might be something worth dealing with.

These dates will not be added to the official calendar.

Location: OKC Sheriff's Track (4001 N Air Depot, Oklahoma City, OK 73145 United States)
Cost: $30
Type: Technical AutoX/Autocross, single pass (4 passes per heat, 2 heats, 8 total), single-car, timed.

Events / 2014 - OKZCC Sheriff's Track Schedule
« on: February 14, 2014, 02:54:21 pm »
The OK Z Car Club hosts a high-speed track day several times a year, look here for the schedule!

Location: OKC Sheriff's Track (4001 N Air Depot, Oklahoma City, OK 73145 United States)
Cost: $30
Type: High speed autocross, laps, multi-car, un-timed.

MonthDate/Time
April6th
May11th
June22nd
July6th
August10th
September14th
October12th

The Z Club is runs periodic track days on Saturdays/Sundays at the OKC Sheriff's track off of NE 36th and Air Depot.

$30 (cash) to run. I'll try to add times when I find them out... but it's usually around 8-9am.

Their tracks tend to be very fast paced and utilize the "main" course at the Sheriff's Track. Expect multiple cars on the track at once (usually between 3 and 5), all staggered. There is no official timing equipment, and passing is only allowed in one location, and only if the driver in front of you pulls to the side and allows it. You'll get the most time on the track racing at Z club events, which takes a toll on your cooling and braking system, so I recommend you have those in top shape before attending the event!

The Z club allows you to run with instructors, friends, and/or family in your car during your laps. They will need a DOT approved helmet.

OCIDE encourages those that can to stay and help pic up cones and clean up after the event.

Here's the map and all that.

Remember... un-timed laps (officially) need more OCIDE members to officially fight for the trophy! Who's gonna take it home?!

Events / 2014 - Porsche Club Sheriff's Track Schedule
« on: January 24, 2014, 12:35:18 pm »
I'm mixing it up a bit this year and going to just post a single thread on these guys. They put their calendar up with track dates for the year... so here we go!

Location: OKC Sheriff's Track (4001 N Air Depot, Oklahoma City, OK 73145 United States)
Cost: $30
Type: Technical AutoX/Autocross, single pass (4 passes per heat, 2 heats, 8 total), single-car, timed.

MonthDate/Time
January15th - 10am
February9th - 10am
March30th - 10am
April19th

June29th
July13th
August9th
September     7th
October11th
November9th
December14th

The Porsche Club is runs periodic track days on Saturdays/Sundays at the OKC Sheriff's track off of NE 36th and Air Depot.

$30 (cash) to run. The required drivers meeting time changes, and they start late, but if you miss the required drivers meeting, you won't be allowed to race! Look for time updates here as I get them.

Their tracks tend to be very technical with a few areas to stretch your legs. The events are all timed and you get 8 laps (one at a time, divided in 2 heats of 4). The times I've run with them they seem pretty nice and easy going, but sticklers when it comes to their rules (fair stuff... like be at the drivers meeting on time). You'll need a helmet (they have a few loaners), and they have instructors that will ride with novice drivers if they want (which is pretty cool), but you can NOT have passengers during timed laps. More often than not it'll start late... but they'll straight lock you out if you don't make it in time for the drivers meeting. You've been warned.

After the normal timed laps, and if they have time, they usually allow "fun-runs". These are non-timed laps that anybody can take (paid or not), with or without passengers (with proper safety equipment of course). These are great if you just want a couple laps for giggles, want to take someone for a spin, want to switch cars, or whatever else you may want to do.

OCIDE encourages those that can to stay and help pic up cones and clean up after the event.

Here's the map and all that.

Remember... timed laps need less OCIDE members to officially fight for the trophy! Who's gonna take it home?!
